Paisley came to us via the pound, where she was turned in as a stray. The pound aged her at 8, but there is no way she is 8. She is 5 or maybe even younger. Paisley is a quintessential Treeing Walker Coonhound with all the breed characteristics. She gets along great with kids old enough not to leave the door open, other dogs, is moderately vocal, is highly scent driven, is stubborn (like all hounds) and is just an all-around silly girl. She pulls on leash and needs work on this. And like every hound, she can never be off leash, because if she catches a scent she will be gone. Unlike most hounds, she is 100% non-destructive in the home. She is house trained with a dog door. Her only issue is that she is a pretty determined door darter. Therefore, she will need to go to a home where people come and go from a door that does not go directly to the outside, and she will need to go to a home with no children or older children who know that they cannot leave doors to the outside or gates in the yard open. We are pretty sure her door darting is what made her become a stray. A local adoption is preferred.
